Founder of sakara life

What was the initial spark that led you and Whitney to create Sakara?
Sakara was born from our own need to completely transform our relationship with food—and by extension, our lives. I studied nutrition, so I understood what constituted a clean, nourishing diet. But Whitney and I quickly realized how tough it was to consistently shop, prep, and cook healthy meals for every single meal of the day. We wanted to eliminate those hurdles for ourselves and for others. That’s why, from the start, Sakara has been about delivering plant-rich, meticulously crafted, and downright delicious meals straight to your door. It’s equal parts convenience and nourishment—a way to feed your body what it needs without sacrificing flavor or spending hours in the kitchen. It's a way to nourish your body, change your biology and truly take care of yourself.
What has been the most rewarding part of your journey as an entrepreneur?
Seeing the tangible impact Sakara has on real people is the ultimate reward. When a client shares that our program helped them regain their energy while going through cancer treatments, or that they were able to lift themselves out of a fog of depression and feel vibrant again, it underscores our mission in the most profound way. It’s never just about selling a product; it’s about offering a lifeline. We started Sakara to heal ourselves, and now we get to witness that ripple effect of healing and empowerment in thousands of lives.
"There’s nothing quite like getting into bed when the linens are soft and inviting, especially when you’re armed with a good book (or even a stack of magazines you’ve been dying to catch up on)."

What does your personal daily wellness routine look like?
I try to keep it both practical and deeply nourishing. Since I’m a big believer in “eating the rainbow,” my meals are always brimming with colorful vegetables and fruits—think leafy greens, sweet peppers, bright berries-- I eat Sakara almost every day. Time with my kids is a huge priority; they keep me laughing, learning, and firmly planted in the present moment. For movement, I’m in love with Pilates—there’s something about that mind-body connection that makes me feel strong and aligned. And sunshine is my secret weapon; even ten minutes of natural light can do wonders for my mood and energy levels. These daily rituals might not be elaborate, but they consistently bring me back to center. I try to be careful not to have a wellness to-do list-- feels like the antithesis to wellness.
If you could only eat one Sakara meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I keep coming back to our Sakara Burrito Bowl. It manages to strike the perfect balance between wholesome and indulgent. You have plant-based proteins, crisp veggies, a creamy sauce that makes it feel just a little decadent, and layers of flavor that never get boring. Each bite feels like a fiesta and reminds me that healthy eating can (and should) be something to savor.
You often speak about joy being a nutrient. What brings you the most joy in your daily life?
Joy is all about the small, often overlooked moments that can light up your spirit. I get this incredible rush of delight watching my children discover the world—kids have such a raw, beautiful perspective on everything. There’s also that first sip of coffee in the morning, the way sunlight streams into the kitchen, or the feeling of slipping off your shoes after a long day. Finding joy in those seemingly mundane experiences gives life its sparkle and fuels me just as much as any superfood ever could.

Both Sakara and SFERRA elevate everyday rituals—one through nourishment, the other through thoughtful design and quality. How do you make everyday moments feel luxurious?
In my book, luxury comes from conscious choices and the feeling of being cared for—by yourself, first and foremost. There’s nothing quite like getting into bed when the linens are soft and inviting, especially when you’re armed with a good book (or even a stack of magazines you’ve been dying to catch up on). It turns a routine end-of-day moment into something that feels indulgent and comforting. Whether it’s lighting a candle during dinner or choosing plates that make your food look extra beautiful, these small acts elevate the ordinary into something that feels special, if not sacred.
Sleep is a huge pillar of well-being. What are your non-negotiables for creating a restful, luxurious sleep environment? Do you have specific rituals or products that help you wind down?
As a mother of two young children, I have to admit that my rituals revolve around them for the most part. I put them to bed almost every night, and after that, it’s usually time to catch up with my husband in our dimly lit kitchen, sitting on our kitchen island over a glass of wine and an herbal cigarette. But lately, I’ve been OBSESSED with our new supplement called Night Service. It’s the sleep supplement I never knew I needed. It boosts neurotransmitters to help you sleep deeper and wake up 1000% more refreshed. I’ve never felt more rested or rejuvenated..
